Monument Valley, the gorgeous M.C. Escher-inspired mobile puzzle game, has a haunting and ethereal soundtrack, and now the game's music is getting a physical release as a double LP. Musicians Stafford Bawler, Obfusc, and Grigori composed tracks for the 32-song, two-part collection, the second half of which will be available for the first time as part of the limited pressing. For a mobile game to be deeply moving, but also minimal enough to satisfy the needs of a casual player, is a very, very impressive feat. Ustwo accomplished that with Monument Valley, and they’ve managed it all over again with Forgotten Shores. Despite inferences that Forgotten Shores takes place as an appendix to the main storyline, it has its own internal narrative that is still just…
Monument Valley is arguably the best mobile game of 2014, and now there’s more of it to love: Developer Ustwo has let loose Forgotten Shores, the $1.99 in-app purchase that unlocks eight all-new levels. If you’ve played the game, then you’ll welcome the opportunity to jump back into the strange land of isometric perspective, a wandering princess, lovely soft color palettes…
Monument Valley is my pick for iOS game of the year; a twisting, gorgeous, MC Escher-style puzzler that’s spellbinding from start to finish. And given that it has received upwards of 1 million downloads, I’m far from alone in thinking…
In what has been a great year for iOS gaming, Monument Valley stands head and shoulders above most of its competition. Part M.C. Escher and part Fez, the game lets you journey through a surrealist world full of optical illusions…
As you can see from the exclusive “making of” feature I wrote a few months back, I’m a massive fan of Monument Valley, the surrealistic M.C. Escher-inspired iOS puzzle game that rocked the App Store earlier this year. A recent…

Have you played Monument Valley yet? Our previous choice for ‘Game of the Week,’ this surreal, M.C. Escher-inspired puzzle game has proved an absolute phenomenon since its launch in the App Store. But what if you’ve already finished ustwo’s masterpiece,…
I consider myself a fan of games, but once in a while, a game comes along for which I feel something far beyond fandom; Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is one of those, and now Monument Valley, a game out today by UK-based development studio ustwo and in many ways, a spiritual bedfellow to Superbrothers, is another. Don’t get me wrong, Monument Valley definitely stands on its own…
